Visions for Vacancies: What Would You Like to See Next to Bertucci's?

What would you like to see in the vacant storefront next to Bertucci's?

Between and sits a vacant storefront on Franklin Street in Braintree.

The property is owned by F.X. Messina Enterprises, which owns land throughout Braintree.

Let us know in the comments section what you'd like to see in the location.

A Trader Joe's would be nice, but I don't think this location is that big

I'd love to have a Trader Joe's here in Braintree. They have such fresh food and good prices. There are other locations in town that could accomodate them. What about up at Kmart plaza in the old book store or vacant building across from the sanitation station near the T ? I'd like to see a BJ'S, IHOP or Dennys too. The two prior places I named would be great at the rotary where the old Bickfords was.

That building next to the T Station has stood vacant for about 20 or more years. The town should take it by eminent domain, use it for another garage for the MBTA and give Braintree residents a 50% discount on the bloated parking fee for having to deal with all the out-of-town traffic going in & out of the T station and assorted congestion at rush hour. The current T garage is generally full by 7AM or shortly thereafter. Supposedly ridership on the T is up but there's scant parking here; they could easily double the parking space by tearing down that eyesore of a building. By the way, if you're in the T garage late at night and look carefully, you're likely to see big rats, some of whom appear to be heading to the vacant building next door. I'd hate to see what is in there after being vacant for so long..... Regards the location previously housing Bickfords, it has almost no parking if the motel is full or nearly full. I too wouldn't mind a Trader Joe's in Braintree but I'd like it to be a bit bigger than their Hanover store. Trader Joe's should have scooped up the old bookstore at Braintree Marketplace but it appears some guitar store is going in there. Regards the space next to Bertucci's, that little strip mall needs parking not more shops. The traffic is nasty at 5 corners especially during the evening rush hour.

I agree with LCT above about the parking garage. I have always said we need more parking, but for Braintree residents only there, not the ones coming in off the xway to park. Also agree Trader Joe's ideal spot would of been the bookstore at kmart plaza too .So many vacant buildings.I think the RENTS/LEASES are too high. It's better to rent for something than nothing and not have vacant bldgs. When the original Bickfords was at the rotary before it changed hands several times , it did very well and managed with parking. They should of kept the restaurant the way it was instead of trying to be more high end.

We don't NEED anymore banks or nail salons. Too many everywhere.
