Potbelly Sandwiches Arriving Next Month in Braintree

The license board also continued alcohol hearings on two Braintree restaurants Tuesday afternoon.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop – the restaurant chain that began as an antique shop in Chicago – will open a location at the new Hyatt Place shopping complex in Braintree within the next few weeks.

Representatives for Potbelly Sandwich Works, which also has shops at Logan Airport and downtown Boston, said they hope to open the store March 5. The Board of License Commissioners approved a food license Tuesday afternoon.

Along with the general antique decor of the shop, Potbelly will feature local history unique to the neighborhood, in this case specific Braintree features such as old photographs of the area and memorabilia from local sports figures, New England Market Manager Eric Andreoni said.

The 43-seat restaurant will be located in the same plaza that contains a variety of new stores next to Hyatt Place, such as Starbucks, Vitamin Shoppe, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Jared Galleria of Jewelry.

License board members told the Potbelly representatives that if they would like to seek an entertainment license or outdoor seating, they will need additional permissions.
