Murray's Deli Gets New Ownership, Subway Coming to South Shore Plaza

The new owners received the OK for a food license on Tuesday.

Murray's Deli in Braintree Square is changing hands, but will offer the same kind of fresh sandwiches, salads and pizza that it has for years.

Anna and Bernardi Kallco are bringing their background in running a bar and resturant in their home country of Albania to Braintree starting next month. Murray's will keep the same name and food, but will-reopen under their ownership by the beginning of February.

"There will be no changes made," Anna Kallco told the Board of License Commissioners on Tuesday afternoon. The board approved a food license for the new owners contingent on an agreement of sale and the refurbishment of some kitchen equipment.

"It will be a family-run business," Anna Kallco said.

The current Murray's ownership could not be reached on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, across town, Subway will join the food court at the South Shore Plaza by mid-February.

The sandwich shop will take over a new space and will offer the traditional Subway menu. It will not replace the location on Pearl Street.
