Braintree Restaurants Open Late New Year's Eve

How will you ring in the New Year?

Bar and restaurant patrons in Braintree can party like it's 2014 for an extra hour to ring in the New Year.

The Board of License Commissioners once again this year voted to extend to 2 a.m. liquor serving hours on New Year's Eve. The alcohol extension – moving serving hours past the typical 1 a.m. hour – will happen on a Tuesday night this year. As in previous years, board members approved the change unanimously.

Last year, when the night landed on a Monday, Police Chief Russell Jenkins said that he would staff extra personnel, and that some restaurants and bars would add police details, but he did not expect a significant surge of people drinking throughout Braintree because it was a weekday night.
