As Sandy's Winds Pick Up, Plaza Closes, Other Braintree Shops Remain Open
Hurricane Sandy is expected to bring its strongest winds to Braintree Monday afternoon and night.
With wind speeds increasing in Braintree and across Massachusetts, many businesses and government entities, including the MBTA, have decided to shut-down.
The South Shore Plaza has announced a closing time of 1 p.m. on Monday, and others, especially banks, have already shut their doors.
Some Braintree businesses, though, remained open as of noon, including Braintree Square shops like Murray's Deli, Pura Vida and Just Nails, Angelina's Pizza on Elm Street, Dunkin' Donuts across town and Subway, Office Max and Pearl Wine & Liquors.

Braintree officials have set up an emergency response center at the police station and have opened a shelter at the Cleveland Avenue Senior Center.
