Welcome to the Braintree 2013 Election Blog

In just a few weeks, thousands of Braintree residents will show up to their local school, church or government building to cast votes for Town Council, School Committee and those other offices.

Just kidding Library Trustees, Electric Light Board and Housing Authority candidates.

But seriously, with the nation's leaders stuck in a brutal game of bank-less Monopoly, local elections are even more important.

Town officials will decide how much you pay in property taxes (and trash fees), what kind of schools your children will attend, and how many police officers and firefighters will protect your neighborhoods.

Braintree's local election is Nov. 5. Patch has, and will continue to, post many articles about the election process, including the ballot positions, candidate interviews and where you can find your polling location.

In the meantime, please use this open blog to talk about the election.

Whether you are a candidate, voter or just a Weymouth resident secretly jealous of your western neighbor, feel free to chime in with thoughts and information on events and town issues.

As I often do when left with no original thought of my own, let's end with a quote. He's not from Braintree, but here's one from a local president, George H.W. Bush:

"I'll be glad to reply to or dodge your questions, depending on what I think will help our election most."
