RINGIUS PROPOSING CREATION OF SCHOOL SAFETY SUB-COMMITTEE

David Ringius is currently running for re-election to the Braintree School Committee.  He strongly believes that Safety must continue to be the #1 priority for our schools, and is proposing the creation of a sub-committee devoted to school safety and related concerns.

"Throughout my time on the Braintree School Committee I have continually advocated that safety is the key to our educational system.  As I have said many times before, if a student isn't safe, or doesn't feel safe, they can never have the fullest educational experience possible.  In a similar vein, our teachers too must feel that they are safe, in order to ensure they are providing the best instruction possible for every student that sits in their classrooms," he says.

Dave has continually strove to ensure this through his involvement with the School Committee.  He has pushed for tightening of policies as to bullying and drug use, and the reporting requirements of such.  He has served as a member of the Braintree Alliance For A Safe And Healthy Youth, which is responsible for various presentations for parents and students as to a host of issues facing our children, including teen drinking, brain development, and bullying.  He has also attended various conferences and trainings as to school safety, most notably attending trainings on critical incidents and responding to School-Based Shootings.

"The world is an ever-changing, and can at times be a scary place, especially for our children.  We must strive to ensure they are protected from threats from the outside as well as from within our schools.  This includes a strong partnership and open communication between our schools, Police Department, and the Norfolk D.A.'s Office."  He continues, "Our schools must continue to avail themselves of the expertise and resources of Chief Jenkins and his staff, as well as the various programs and grants offered through District Attorney Morrissey's commitment to education."

Dave is pleased with recent developments as Sector Police Officers have become much more active and visible within the schools, and to the commitment to replacing door locks and upgrading camera technology within the schools.

"We must be ever vigilant to the safety of our schools, of our kids.  To this end, I will be proposing a sub-committee of the School Committee to be made up of 2 members of the board as well as administration and representatives of the school buildings.  The purpose of such a sub-committee would be to ensure continued upgrades and attention to various safety concerns within our schools.  I look forward to working with the School Committee in attempting to implement this in a timely fashion."

Please VOTE RINGIUS FOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE on NOVEMBER 5TH!!!!!!
