George Kokoros for School Committee-Leadership
I entered the race for the open 4-year seat on the School Committee because it was time to come back
to public service. This was too important a position to be left to chance. I made the commitment to run
because my Braintree Public School education has provided me with so many opportunities. My brother
and sisters all graduated from Braintree Schools as did three of my children. Two of my children are
currently attending Braintree High and South Middle School and will graduate in the next few years. My
mother is proud that all of her children received college degrees and two of us advanced degrees. This
is a strong testament to how well the system works. Our government will see many new faces during
this election and it was important to me that the most qualified individuals are elected to serve. My
background and experience in Town Government, business, and education, provide the right balance
for this position. I have devoted my time and knowledge to working with our students and teachers in
Junior Achievement and various sports throughout the Town. As a University Professor, I’m able to see
first-hand the results of K-12 education throughout the world. This perspective helps me to understand
areas that can be enhanced and improved. I continue to serve in positions of leadership, as President
of the Alumni Board at Suffolk University. We have started to sponsor public schools through our
alumni reach with supplies and volunteers. This year, I am leading an initiative with the Greater Boston
Food Bank with a special focus on childhood hunger. I will take the same leadership approach with
your support on the Braintree School Committee, working with the other members to get things done.
Please consider me on November 5th with your write-in vote for a 4 year term.
