1920s Boston to Hollywood Tale to be Told at Thayer Library

Thayer Public Library will host Schmoozing with Sophie Tucker at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 23. 

The audience will experience story-telling at its best with Linda Myer as Sophia Tucker, who shares her poignant memories of her struggles to achieve the American dream in 1928. Sophie Tucker the last of the red-hot mamas will keep you laughing with tales of climbing the show business ladder from the crowded tenements of Boston's North End to Hollywood.

This program is part of the One Braintree, One Book and the selected title is the tragic love story “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The idea behind One Braintree One Book is to encourage everyone in Braintree to read the same book and then have book discussions and events that tie into the book.
