UPDATE: Toys for Tots Drive by Braintree's Troop 138 Coming Soon

Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Program.

UPDATE: Country 102.5 will be at the drive on Dec. 1, and you can enter to win tickets to Boston Ballet's Nutcracker. There may also be a "special guest" from the North Pole, so bring your cameras.

Boy Scout Troop 138 will host its 2nd Annual Toys for Tots drive on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. outside of Braintree Town Hall. 

Please drop off a new, unwrapped, non-violent toy.

Toys for Tots begin in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children, according to the program's website.

In the mid-1990s it was officially sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Defense and expanded to all 50 states. Since its inception, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children.
