Residents Enjoy Italian Night at Grove Manor

Last week 160 residents of Grove Manor Estates in Braintree were greeted in the dining room with red and white checkerboard table cloth, wine bottle candles and an Italian meal prepared with the help of guest chefs.

Chefs Dominic Candelieri and Robert Cuoco pitched in with Food Service Director Ron Solomon and Chef Bob Dexter to make, lasagna, antipasto and other dishes.

On a typical night, Grove Manor serves about 120 residents, who can choose among a variety of appetizers, entrees and a specialty dessert, Solomon said. The retirement community brings in fresh produce every day and rotates through a quality selection of meats. The most popular option is fresh fish, including lobster, shrimp, scallops and swordfish.

Residents can also request special meals based on favorite foods and memories. One resident recently requested a dish her grandmother made, for instance: black cherry bread pudding.
