Kyah DeSimone, a 13-year-old from Cape Cod and a patient at Children's Hospital Boston, needs a heart transplant.

This Saturday, a hometown hair salon – The Snippery on Washington Street in Braintree – will pitch in by throwing a fundraiser with proceeds to benefit Kyah and her family.

Kyah's mom Danielle grew up in Braintree and graduated from BHS in 1999. She is close with Gina Pagnotta, owner of the The Snippery, and often stays over Pagnotta's home in Braintree with her 6-year-old son Jaedan to avoid the long commute into Boston.

Jaedan also has medical problems and spent the first year of his life at Children's Hospital, Pagnotta said in an email. Kyah is a student at Dennis-Yarmouth High School.

"Couldn't think of a more deserving family, especially around the holiday season," Pagnotta said. She works with cancer patients through Dana-Farber in Weymouth, often helping them with specialty wigs.

The Snippery is affiliated with Girl On The Go hairpieces for the South Shore Hospital cancer wing, Locks Of Love and Hair Do by Jessica Simpson.

It will host a fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be light refreshments, hair product discounts, photography and art work, jewelry and gift certificates.

Cash, check or gift card donations are also encouraged. A portion of all proceeds will go to Kyah's mom Danielle, who will be at the salon Saturday.
