How Many Millionaires Live in Braintree?

Tax returns from 2011 show that one out of every 1,169 Braintree residents filed a million-dollar tax return.

Thirty one Braintree residents filed million-dollar tax returns in 2011, an increase of 3 percent over the previous year (the town added one millionaire).

That means that one out of every 1,169 residents filed a million-dollar return, reported the Boston Business Journal. That is 2.23 millionaires per square mile.

The average income for the millionaire filers in 2011 was $3,813,000, up significantly from 2010, at $2,196,000.

The total income for Braintree's millionaires jumped by more than $50 million dollars between those years, to $118,216,000.

Braintree is lower than the Massachusetts average of millionaires by community, which was 51, but higher than the state median, which was 14 per community.

Boston, Newton, Wellesley, Weston and Cambridge were the top five for millionaires, according to BBJ.
