(BOSTON, MA) --- In John DiNatale’s new book, “The Family Business, Memoirs of a Boston Private Eye” John takes the reader inside the DiNatale Detective Agency, one of the oldest licensed detective agencies in New England.  John’s father, Phil, former Boston Police Detective, and one of the lead investigators in the infamous Boston Strangler case founded the agency. John DiNatale began an apprenticeship with his father over 45 years ago.  John accompanied his father on surveillances and investigations, and ultimately learned the fine art of investigation through practical experience.

The Family Business is more than a series of engaging anecdotes; it offers readers a glimpse into the real world of a private investigator, the professional and personal stresses included.  The Family Business is funny, poignant and informative; it taps into the bottomless curiosity readers have about the hidden aspects of life, both criminal and domestic.

There are revelations of some of the most interesting cases this family team has worked on over the past 40 years – from the letters that the notorious Boston Strangler Albert DeSalvo wrote from his prison cell to John’s father, to the theft of a Stradivarius violin and a Louis the XIV desk, to large-scale gray –marketeering, to missing children, wiretapping and industrial accidents.

The Family Business offers insight into family’s trouble by divorce, addiction, and secrets as well as a look beneath the surface of city life, into the minds of those who break the law. The Family Business is available at New England Mobile Book Fair, Newton, MA and Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and at www.FamilyBusinessthebook.com.  There is also a web series titled “Stranglehold, In the Shadow of the Boston Strangler” directed by John DiNatale’s, nephew, Myles Jewell.  The documentary is currently making the rounds of Film Festivals and private showings and is available on Facebook and Twitter.
