Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment—and accepting it without judgment. Mindfulness can be cultivated through mindfulness meditation, a systematic method of focusing your attention. Above all, mindfulness practice involves accepting whatever arises in your awareness at each moment. It involves being kind and forgiving toward yourself. For many people, such as people impacted by cancer, the practice of mindfulness meditation (mindfulness based stress-reduction) can be a useful tool in improving one’s quality of life - both during the cancer experience and in their lives after cancer.

“We are pleased to offer this wonderful program to the community,” said Megan Bettencourt, Executive Director of The Cancer Support Community of MA South Shore.  “Stress reduction is an important part of our mission in supporting people who are impacted by cancer and we welcome people to contact us to learn more about this program and the other programs available.”

This program is offered free of charge, to register please call 781-610-1490 or email gcolton@cancersupportcommunityma.org.
