Town Council Votes for President, Library Book Club

5 Things: A run-down of events and other useful information for your life in Braintree on Jan. 7, 2014.

1. The Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Town Hall Tuesday evening. Councilors will vote for the president and vice president of the council and discuss the Petersen Pool and Ice Rink. Click here for a full agenda.

Last Thursday, the mayor swore-in elected councilors and School Committee members.

2. CORRECTION: This is being held Wednesday evening. Thayer Public Library hosts the Brown Bag Book Club from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Logan Auditorium. All readers welcome.

"Feel free to bring your lunch and join us for the discussion of Ragtime by EL Doctorow. After a brief discussion of the book, we'll watch the film starring James Cagney."

3. Tuesday is Club Photo Day in the lobby at Braintree High School. There are also grade nine house meetings during block four.

5. There is a slight chance of showers in the morning Tuesday, followed by a chance of snow with a low around 14 degrees a strong winds, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday night should be mostly clear, low around 6.
