Teen Winter Reading, Morrison Holiday Sing-a-Long

5 Things: A run-down of events and other useful information for your life in Braintree on Dec. 20, 2013.

1. Thayer Public Library's Teen Winter Reading Program is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today on the lower level.

"To participate, teens in grades 6-12 (ages 12-18) can stop by the Reference Desk anytime the library is open between 12/16/13 - 12/31/13, fill out a short Book Review for ANY book they've recently read, and receive a PRIZE!"

2. Friday, the last day before winter vacation for students, Morrison School is have a pajama day and a sing-a-long. What are your students up to? Share with Braintree Patch on our Speak Out page.

4. Relatively warm today, but wet. The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 46 degrees with a slight chance of showers after 4 p.m. Showers into Friday night, low around 37 degrees. 

5. On this day in 1989, the U.S. sent forces into Panama to topple General Manuel Noriega. Before the invasion, President George H.W. Bush said American troops were going in to protect U.S. citizens from a hostile government, defend democracy, combat illegal drug trafficking and protect a Panama Canal treaty.
