National Night Out with Braintree Police, Summer Reading Parties

5 Things: A run-down of events and other useful information for your life in Braintree on Aug. 20, 2013.

1. The Braintree Police Department hosts a National Night Out from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

The free, family-friendly festivities include food, touch-a-truck, games, a DJ and more.

National Night Out is a non-profit program that aims to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

2. Thayer Public Library hosts a Childrens End of Summer Reading Party for all ages from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Logan Auditorium.

3. There is also a Teen End of Summer Reading Party at the library from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
