Board Game Fun, Scrabble at Thayer Public Library

5 Things: A run-down of events and other useful information for your life in Braintree on Aug. 22, 2013.

1. Thayer Public Library hosts "Board Game Fun age 8-11" from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Children's Room.

"Play fun Board Games! We supply the games to play, you supply the luck. For children age 8 - 11. Play as a group, or just with a friend or relative - whichever you prefer. Some favorites from last summer were "Cranium", "Apples to Apples", "You gotta be kidding" Held in Children's Room, at the tables in the older kids area. Part of "Dig into Reading" Summer Reading Program for children."

2. Scrabble is also at the library from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on the lower level.

"The Community Preservation Committee is pleased to announce the upcoming Fall 2013 application deadline – September 3, 2013. Anyone interested in applying for funding for a particular project or program can obtain access to the application and instructions by clicking here or visiting the Community Preservation Committee home page. Interested parties may also contact the Planning and Community Development Office at 781-794-8230."

4. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon today and continuing into the night, according to the National Weather Service.
