Winter Shopping Savings
It's that time of year again. The end of season and January sales are upon us.
With January (and our first snowstorm) behind us, it’s time to start thinking ahead to… Spring? Well, that’s what retailers are hoping you’ll do. To make way for the fashions of spring and gasp, bathing suits, many retail shops are clearing out their inventory and slashing prices in the process.
The end of season January sales are one of my favorite times to shop. Warm winter coats, sweaters, and boots are usually yours for the taking. For instance, I picked up a few sweaters at Macy’s yesterday that were 75% off their original price. Many times, the fitness wear that was all the rage at the beginning of January are now being priced to sell.
To further maximize your savings, I’ve rounded up some coupons to help maximize the savings during the January Sales.
Aeropostale
The annual Teens for Jeans campaign is underway at Aeropostale. For every pair of jeans you donate, you’ll receive a 25% off coupon for a new pair from Aeropostale. In conjunction with DoSomething.org, Aeropostale donates the jeans to a local homeless shelter. It doesn’t matter the size or brand but all jeans should be in good, clean, wearable condition.
In addition, get $10 off a $40 purchase when you use this coupon, good through January 31.
Lord & Taylor
Use these Savings Passes at Lord & Taylor and save on already reduced prices. Save an additional 20% on clearance items or save 15% on regular and sale priced items. The Savings Passes are good through Jan. 31.
Bob’s Stores
Even when there are no corresponding sales going on, there are always coupons it seems for Bob’s Stores. While I didn’t find a flyer in my Sunday paper, I did find this 20% off coupon on the Bob’s Store website.
TGI Friday’s
Now through Jan. 31, save $5 on your food purchase of $15 or more.
True Value
Whether you need shovels and ice melt or some new gardening tools, get $5 off any purchase of $25 at True Value. Offer good through Feb. 29.
Staples
Staples is my new favorite store. Now that the kids are in middle school and I’m working in a school myself, it seems like we always need something by way of school supplies. I love Staples because in addition to the coupons they offer to their Staples Rewards customers, there are always the Dollar Day items to take advantage of. This week you’ll find colored pencils, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, and 3/pack mini writing pads all for a $1 each.
OfficeMax
If the school supplies or your ink cartridges are running low, use this $10 off coupon from OfficeMax to stock up. You must spend $30 or more to take advantage of the coupon, which is good through Jan. 28.
Target
With a store like Target, it’s next to impossible to offer a single coupon to take advantage of savings opportunities, mainly because Target offers many, many coupons on its website. Using the handy coupon app, you can sort the coupons by department, select the ones you want, and then print them out at home. This week, you’ll find some great coupons for clothing, toys, and fitness items.
Sports Authority
If you’re really serious about keeping your New Year’s Resolution to exercise more, Sports Authority wants to help. Spend $299 or more on a treadmill, elliptical, exercise bike, weight bench or home gym and save 10%. The offer expires Jan. 28.
Bath and Body Works
Creamy hand soaps, scented body lotions, and fresh bath and shower gels are one sure way of beating the winter doldrums. At Bath and Body Works, you’ll save 20% when your present this coupon, good through Jan. 29.
Sherwin Williams
Once all of the sparkly lights and decorations have been taken down, the house tends to look a little drab. Use this coupon from Sherwin Williams and get a head start on spring with a nice fresh coat of paint. Save $10 on your purchase of $50 or more.
Yankee Candle
Between the sale currently underway, where you can save 25% to 60% off select items, Yankee Candle is also offering a buy one, get one 50% off. Combine this $10 off coupon, and the saving opportunities keep on growing.
AMC Theater
I’m still shocked every time we head to the movies. Between the tickets and a shared beverage/popcorn situation, I end up dropping at least $50 just to see a movie we could watch at home in a few short months for a fraction of the price. So, I’ll take all the help I can get with cutting down the movie expenses. This Free Large Soft Drink coupon at AMC Braintree should do the trick.
