An unruly crowd trying to buy special sneakers at Foot Action last Saturday at the was egged on by a Hyde Park man, police said, who was arrested for creating a disturbance.

Early in the morning, a crowd of about 300 gathered to get in line for the sneakers, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. The sneakers quickly sold out and officers tried to clear the area, but the crowd surged and one person was trampled and required medical attention.

David Chery, 18, urged the crowd forward, Jenkins said. Chery was taken into custody and a resulting struggle resulted in both Chery and an officer falling to the ground without serious injury.
