Two Young Braintree Men Arrested After Police Stop Turns up Marijuana

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

After a resident in the area of Lowell and Cedar streets called in a report of suspicious activity last Saturday evening, Braintree police busted two young men when they found marijuana and warrants for one's arrest.

At about 7 p.m., officers went to the area to look for a gray Nissan Maxima with four occupants looking into cars, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Police then made a traffic stop near the Mobil on Elm Street.

Nicholas M. Fitzgerald, 20, of Braintree was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after police found on him a zip lock bag containing several smaller bags of marijuana, along with $762 in cash, Jenkins said.

Mark D. Hanson, JR, 19, also of Braintree, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for breaking and entering and larceny related offenses and the two other individuals were not charged.

When you have nearly $800 in your pocket, do you really need to steal people's toll money and GPSs? How many times can this kid get arrested in his own neighborhood before he gets in trouble? Way to bite the hand that feeds you.
