Two men were arrested on separate drunken driving charges within an hour of each other on Thanksgiving night in Braintree.
Just before 11 p.m. on Nov. 22, John J. Stuffle, 41, of Quincy, was pulled over on Washington Street near Union Street after another motorist reported his vehicle crossing the center line and nearly striking cars, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.
The approaching officer smelled alcohol on Stuffle and made other observations that he might be intoxicated, Jenkins said. He was arrested after several attempted sobriety tests and recorded a blood alcohol level at the police station of more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent and charged with operating under the influence.
Less than an hour later, a Brooklyn, NY man was pulled over on Granite Street near the South Shore Plaza, also after another motorist reported erratic driving, Jenkins said.
Thirty-year-old Justo J. Castro was arrested after the responding officer made observations and intoxication and he performed sobriety tests. He was charged with operating under the influence after failing a breath test.
