Trash Talk: Renewal by June 30 Provides Variety of Town Services
Remember to ask for your Braintree ’Trash Sticker’ when paying this years’ trash bill.
The following is from Recycling Coordinator Jeffrey Kunz:
The trash bills were sent out this month for a renewal date of June 30. Paying the trash bill provides access to several town services:
- Entry to the Plain St. Compost Site for your yard waste and to collect compost for your garden, when available. Hours are: Wed-Sun, 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. For information call the Highway Department at 781-794-8950. Curbside yardwaste collections will resume in the fall.
- Permission to take household trash to the Ivory St. Recycling/Residential Trash Drop-off. No more than six bags/bundles of trash can be accepted, including wood and carpet bundled and not exceeding 3-4 ft in length and items not weighing more than 50 lbs (similar to curbside pickup).
SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING can be dropped off (with or without a sticker) by residents and small business. Cleanouts and construction material (small quantities of fence & decking, loose carpet, excess trash, etc.) can be taken to the SEMASS Weigh Station (same location as the trucks to the right of the Drop-Off (cost is $.10/lb and payment must be by credit card).
Summer hours of operation for both facilities are: Mon-Sat, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Remember, a new, valid (2012/2013) Trash Sticker is required at all times, in both facilities, to drop-off trash. Call 781-794-8088 for more information.
- Entry to Sunset Lake to enjoy one of the community’s summer gems. For information, call 781-798-8900.
Remember to ask for your ’Trash Sticker’ when paying this years’ trash bill. If you have already paid and forgot to request one, you can still go to Town Hall, Treasurer’s Office, and request one. Be sure to take the registration for the vehicle you will use. Stickers are available for additional vehicles for $15.
Enjoy your summer, and make sure your vehicles have a current Trash Sticker by June 30.

Several months ago, there was an article (possibly in the other local paper) saying that the big rolling recycling bins were being distributed to all residents. I remember it stating that it was starting in the Highlands neighborhoods. Whatever happened to those?

Hey Mack,
I just spoke with Chief of Staff Peter Morin ahead of tonight's council meeting and he said there is enough money in the upcoming year's budget to do another, larger neighborhood. It will likely be in East Braintree, but that isn't 100 percent confirmed.

Thanks for the followup Joseph. Frankly I find it ludicrous that the town would be supplying some neighborhoods but not others. Instead of giving them to select neighborhoods, they should have made them available to all for short money. Seems a lot like the 100 Road program where your roads get fixed as long as you live in the right neighborhood. (Have they broken ground on a single road this year in their highly touted program? What's the holdup?)
