Welcome to Apple Season at the Braintree Farmers Market hosted by Sustainable Braintree. Pick your own right out of the bins at the C.N. Smith Farm tents. They press their own cider too so look for some in their coolers.

The many flavors of autumn are now present at each vendor. Apples, pears, pumpkins, squashes, hearty soups, breads and pies that conjure up memories of one of the best seasons in New England. Stop by to find fresh picked and prepared local foods that will make the 2011 fall season a time to fondly remember as well.

This week we have a brand new winery joining us. Say 'Hello' to Turtle Creek Winery. Three of  four Turtle Creek Wines were ranked in the top 7% at the 2011 Boston Wine Expo.  13 countries, 400 wineries and 1200 wines were represented. Try them!

Though tomato season is coming to a close, Second Nature Farm will still have a good amount for sale this week. They'll also be well stocked in fall favorites like fennel, red/white/blue potatoes, celery root, and leeks.

Nella Pasta will have the first of the season Roasted Butternut Squash & Sage Ravioli, Three Cheese Ravioli, Wheat & Ground Flaxseed Linguine and Autumn Spice Linguine-- hello Fall! Congratulations to Leigh as she got married last Saturday! This is Leigh with her new husband Jeff Natale.

Now that local blueberries are all but gone, Homestyle Caterers will be bringing back the Raisin Scones for those who have asked for them. Chef Hassan will have some Blueberry Scones in the Magic Oven, too, but better get there early. Moussaka was very popular at last week's Market, so there will be more of that along with Stuffed Peppers, Baked Macaroni & Cheddar,Chicken Pies, Falafel Roll-Ups, Spinach Turnovers, creamy Rice Pudding, & crispy Baklava. They say..."To everything there is a season." So look for more casseroles and hearty soups as we slip deeper into the cooler days of Fall.

Moving Planet Braintree Starting this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on the steps of the town hall. This is a two-mile walk that will begin and end at the town hall in conjunction with the farmers market. It is recommended that you walk or ride your bike to the event to alleviate traffic congestion at the market. This is a world wide movement to raise awareness and to solve the climate crisis.
