Dave & Buster's management was surely taking notes during a March 1 hearing in which the Board of License Commissioners voted 5-0 to provide the restaurant, bar and arcade a license for 170 amusement games.

At one point during the three-hour public hearing, board chair Joe Powers called out the company for hosting a discussion webpage as part of an effort to combat criticism from Braintree residents over the past year. One comment – in fact the entire page of comments – now appears to have disappeared, just as Powers suggested.

The comment, from a man named Kevin Hill who identified himself as a Milton native working at the Dave & Buster's in Providence, wasn't unsettling in a true mud-slinging way, though Powers found it "very bothersome" because it called out an individual from Braintree.

"I also found it offensive," Hill wrote, "that [the individual, in a Ledger opinion piece] stated that Dave & Buster's was a place for men in a perpetual refuge to remain in adolescence."

The long fight over Dave & Buster's setting up at the South Shore Plaza having come to an end, the company's push-back webpage is gone.

"This is not the kind of partnership we want to engender," Powers said.

"Consider it done," VP Lisa Warren responded.

South Shore Churches Collect Food for Pantries

All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church was part of a group of churches stretching from Braintree to Plymouth collecting food for the needy this weekend. Members of the Elm Street church gathered at Stop & Shop on Saturday. The food donated in Braintree went to the Community Food Pantry at First Baptist Church and the Marge Crispin Center.

Turkey Loves it Some Tires

What is known as the Common Street Turkey (CST), according to an article in the Patriot Ledger, proved a fine model for Milton Patch Editor Adam Roberts earlier this week. See pictures above right.
