Police: Weymouth Woman a Repeat Shoplifter
The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Following an investigation of a shoplifting incident at Lord & Taylor last Saturday night, Braintree police arrested a 24-year-old Weymouth woman and her alleged accomplice after she reportedly returned to the South Shore Plaza for more goods on Sunday.
Police arrested Katelyn M. Keeley, 24, of Weymouth and Camilo Arrendo, 22, of Quincy on Dec. 11 and charged them both with larceny over $250 and receiving stolen property under $250, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Keeley was additionally charged with another count of larceny over $250 for the Saturday incident.
On Saturday night, loss prevention watched a woman take three UGGs slippers worth $330 altogether, and run out of Lord & Taylor, Jenkins said. A match on the registration of the vehicle she left in led to an apartment in Weymouth and her identity.
Then on Sunday, Keeley allegedly returned and stole three more UGGs slippers, Jenkins said. She fled again into the same type of vehicle – a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck – driven by a white male, who turned out to be Arrendo.
The truck left the Plaza onto Granite Street, but then turned back in toward Macy's, Jenkins said. There a police officer on patrol stopped the vehicle and discovered inside three pairs of UGGs slippers, plus more than $200 worth of clothing believed stolen from Victoria’s Secret, Jenkins said.
