Painting the Town Red (and Green and Blue and...)

This has been a busy year for me, in terms of home improvement. I needed to get my childhood home in Randolph spiffy for new renters, had some of my own home repair work and opened a business which required the entire store to be painted.

Just like anybody, I like real, quality work. So I called around to some friends who were seasoned home repair-ists and got a few names. No problem, right? Well, lets just say that nobody calls back! You would think that in a slow economy they would be clamoring! So in my urgency, I reasoned to myself, "To whom do I go to who will be responsible, will call back, and knows about the hassles of being at the mercy of the typical contractor?"

"Aha – a woman!" was my response. So I googled women-owned painting companies and up popped ! Better yet, they were in Braintree.

So what is their story? In a nutshell, Kristen Ford was a single mom, six years ago, who finally decided to hire a painter instead of trying to tackle home improvement projects herself. She hired Joe Hernandez's company and the two hit it off right away and were married two years later. They just celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary!

At the time of their dating, Kristen was working for a local software company in sales with no base salary, at 15% commission. The job took a lot of her time, leaving very little to spend with her kids. Joe approached Kristen with the idea of going into business together and starting their own company, Premiere Pros.  With his expertise in finish carpentry and painting and Kristen's fifteen years in sales and marketing, it made perfect sense. In fact, it is this synergy of talents which really sets Premier Pros apart. They get it!

The company's goal is to establish long-lasting relationships with their customers. Understanding what’s important to customers and then helping them to make decisions that is in their best interest has helped the business grow to where it is today. Educating customers is as important as doing a top quality job. Both Joe and Kristen enjoy working with people and gain great satisfaction from helping people enhance their homes.

Through the years, Kristen has researched colors and interior design to offer complimentary color consultations to their customers. Many times customers hold off on painting because they cannot decide on a color. Offering this has proved to be very valuable to customers.

Kristen serves on the Board of Directors at the Dianne Devanna Center in Braintree and is a proud member of the South Shore Women’s Business Network. Kristen and Joe are very committed to networking with like-minded professionals so they are able to confidentally refer qualified individuals and/or companies to their customers.

Both the job at my family home and my retail store were done neatly, professionally and timely. I was very pleased with the results and now consider Premier painters as "my painters."

Kristen was ALWAYS available to answer questions or consult on colors, often dropping color swatches over to my home or meeting me at my retail space, working with me to get the job completed before another part of the buildout was scheduled to happen (which can often be like a ballet of sorts!) Joe was similarly available to me, whether coming out to quote the job or answering my many phone calls.

With the holidays soon approaching and the need to get scraggly looking walls and baseboards repainted, do not hesitate to call Premier Pros post-haste. They are so quick and effiecient, you will have plenty of time to have the work done well before Thanksgiving!
