Charge dismissed in alleged theft of sunglasses
Lachanna Hairston, 31, of 5 Tupelo St., Boston, had a charge of larceny over $250 dismissed in Quincy District Court. The charge stemmed from a Sept. 22, 2010 incident in Braintree at the Sunglass Hut, South Shore Plaza, at 8 p.m. when police responded to a report of a couple making off with three pairs of sunglasses, each valued at $220. According to police, one of suspects engaged an employee in conversation as an alleged distraction. The employee then reviewed the incident on store surveillance tape, police said in the report.
Weymouth man skips hearing on harassment order violation
Thomas J. Purdy, 35, of 121 Pilgrim Road, South Weymouth, failed to show up at an arraignment in Quincy District Court to face a charge of violation of a harassment prevention order. A default warrant was issued. The charge stems from a Jun 6 incident in Braintree where police responded to a possible restraining order violation at a Commercial Street residence.
Assault and battery charges dismissed
Helen Hartigan, 63, of 81 Hancock St., Braintree, had two counts of assault and battery dismissed in Quincy District Court. The charges stem from a April 4, 2011 incident in Braintree at 4:41 p.m. when police responded to a Hancock Street residence for a report of a disturbance involving a woman throwing items around the house.
Braintree man arraigned on larceny charge
Peter J. Garrity Jr., 25, of 265 Liberty St., Braintree, was arraigned in Quincy District Court on a charge of larceny over $250. The case was continued to Sept. 6 for a pretrial hearing. The charge stems from a Dec. 27, 2011 incident in Quincy and involved a check written in the amount of $960 that was sent to Alltown Check Cashing and returned because of a closed bank account.
