How Much is the Former Norfolk County Hospital Worth?
More real estate facts from Braintree Patch and Patriot Properties.
The former Norfolk County Hospital, purchased by the Town Of Braintree for $1.8 million from the county in 2010, sits at the intersection of Route 37 and South Street and next to the Highlands Playground and Sheriff's Office.
Local officials continue to discuss how to transform the site, which once hosted a mock assault by U.S. Navy Seals.
How much is the property worth?
Its total value, including the land itself, is $3.2 million, according to records kept by Patriot Properties, which stores data from the Board of Assessors on all real estate in Braintree, along with a number of other towns.
The 20.431 acre site contains buildings worth $653,700 and "extra features" valued at $56,200. The structure was built in approximately 1928, according to Patriots Properties.

Site is perfect for a regional police academy.

Sullivan wants this site to be the new Braintree Dog Park. Making it the most expensive toilet in the state if not the whole country. I do agree this land would be good for a police academy. Or it could even be sold to a green company. Maybe one that makes solar panels or wind turbines.

I think it should be a dog park, we don't have a place like that in Braintree. In order to go to a place like that I have to bring my dog to Hingham. I think it would be good for Braintree.

So a dog park for 1.8 million? You don't think that's a lot to spend on a dog park?
You don't think that land could be put to better use?

agree with Matt, dog park seems like a waste of space and money..
