Braintree Farmer’s Market Pumpkin Festival: The Sustainable Braintree Braintree Farmer's Market happens every Saturday, at the Braintree Town Hall Mall, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain or shine! The market moves indoors to the Town Hall in the event of bad weather.
Come on in and browse the locally grown or produced fresh eggs, fruits, vegetables, honey, baked goods, flowers, jams and much more! This week’s market will feature free locally-grown pumpkins at their Pumpkin Festival/Make a Difference Day. To participate, bring in gently-used clothing and donate the items at the Town Hall where Sustainable Braintree is collecting them and then go pick out your pumpkins!
Grown Up Spelling Bee: The 3rd Annual Great Grown Up Spelling Bee takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the South Shore Plaza. A panel of local VIPs will judge the contest! This unique competition will require more than spelling skills; contestants will need teamwork and strategy to win! Sign up begins at 9:30 a.m.
Atlantic Symphony Orchestra Opening Night: The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra's 2011-2012 season opens at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 22, at with a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m., followed by the show at 7:30 p.m. The program will include Copeland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 and Barber's Adagio for Strings. There will be a post-concert reception after the performance.
The Haunted Ship: Are you looking for a unique in-the-spirit-of Halloween experience? Visit The Haunted Ship on Saturday and Sunday evenings at the USS Salem for a super-spooky good time! Haunted Ship Ghost Tours are also available! See links for more information.
Sunday Worship and Fellowship Hour: The Church of Abundant Life hosts a Coffee and Fellowship Hour every Sunday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The menu will include coffee, tea, bagels and cream cheese and doughnuts! Sunday Worship Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. There are Children's Church services, and a nursery and preschool available for the little ones, too.
