Fire Chief Murphy Retiring in January
Murphy has served on the Braintree Fire Department for three decades.
After more than three decades with the Braintree Fire Department, Chief Kevin Murphy has decided that he will retire this January.
Murphy has served as chief for the past three years. Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced his retirement, effective Jan. 13, 2013, in a statement on Friday.
"We thank him for his service and his steadfast commitment to the safety of the citizens of Braintree," Sullivan said. "We wish him a happy retirement after a job well done."
An internal posting for the position will be made first, followed by a review of internal candidates. External candidates may be allowed to apply, depending on Sullivan's assessment of the internal applicants.
