Breast Cancer Awareness Recognized With Pink Candles at Town Hall
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the fourth year in a row there will be pink candles in the front windows of Braintree Town Hall for the month of October.
“The candles show our solidarity with those who are fighting this terrible disease as well as with their families and friends” Mayor Joseph Sullivan said, “Over the past 20 years the Breast Cancer survival rate has grown a great deal, and we can be thankful for that, but also be mindful that we are not to 100% yet and we must continue to spread awareness.”
Sullivan noted that the Human Resources office sends out a monthly newsletter to all town employees from the American Cancer society to keep them informed of the latest in cancer research and awareness.
“I encourage all residents to visit the American Cancer Society’s webpage at www.cancer.org, for information on the latest cancer research, treatments, and support for those who are currently battling cancer,” said Sullivan.
