Braintree Scout Leader Charged with Additional Indecent Assault
The additional set of charges against Michael J. Cimmino, 54, of Braintree, stem from an alleged incident with a boy under 14 years of age in 2009.
Braintree resident Michael J. Cimmino is facing yet another charge of indecent sexual assault against a minor after a victim came foward and lodged a complaint dating back to 2009.
Cimmino, 54, of 400 Commercial St., was arraigned this week in Quincy District Court on charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years of age and open and gross lewdness. A judge ordered Cimmino held in the county lockup on $15,000 bail, in addition to the $15,000 bail amount set in connection with other charges against Cimmino.
Cimmino is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 31 to face a probable cause hearing to determine whether the facts are in evidence to move forward with the case.
The Braintree man was arraigned Jan. 4 on eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years of age, including kidnapping and assault to rape a child.
According to court documents, a relative of Cimmino posted $15,000 bail on Jan. 7 and he was released from the Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham. A court official said Cimmino has not yet posted bail on the second set of charges.
Prosecutors have embargoed any information about the cases because of their sensitive nature and to protect the identities of the victims.
Conditions set for his earlier release were that Cimmino abstain from drugs and alchol and to undergo random testing. He was also instructed to stay away from the two victims and their families and have no direct or indirect contact with them.
Cimmino also may not be employed in a capacity that would bring him in contact with children under 18 years of age. That includes the Boy Scouts and the Archdiocese, records state. He also may not have any contact with children under 18.
