The staff of PharmaLogics Recruiting recently held a fundraising event asking patrons for donations which raised over $1650 to help aid children with cancer on behalf of Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

“This funding will jump start a clinical research project with great implications for children, whose disease has been unresponsive to traditional therapies, giving new hope to them and their parents,” said Mark Kieran, MD, PhD, Director of Pediatric Medical Neuro-Oncology at the  Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is dedicated to realizing Alex's dream of eradicating childhood cancer and raises money and awareness while researching new treatments and cures. In 2000, four year old Alexandra Scott (1996-2004) announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. On the average, 36 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer everyday in the United States.

Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope and exemplifying the saying “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501 (c)3charity, has raised more than $50 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream, funding over two hundred pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
