Braintree Girls Move on With Top-Scoring Indoor Track Performances

Girls and boys Braintree High indoor track teams compete on Wednesday in a Bay State League Conference Meet.

Below is an update on the Braintree High School girls indoor track team provided by coach Megan Williams. Look for a boys update soon.

The girls indoor track team participated in the MSCTA Last Chance to Qualify Invitational on Sunday, Feb 5 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Abby Randall took first place in the girls shot put with a throw of 35 ft 3 inches which is her second to best throw of the season (best throw is 35’11” which is also the school record).

Alex McInnis qualified for the MIAA Division 1 State meet in the 55m Dash with a time of 7.84 which is a personal best for the season

Book Yuen, Adriana McDevitt, Caroline Cross and Alex McInnis took second in the 4x200m relay. The girls ran a time of 1:53.7 which put them right behind Milton H.S. (Milton was in a separate heat and went 1:53.5).  These girls are only two seconds off the school record (1:51.3).

Kara MacLean improved her time by 4 seconds in the 1,000m race. Kara ran 3:24.5 two weeks ago then Sunday she ran a 3:20.5. (She needs a 3:20.2 to qualify for states!)

Marissa Balsamo also had a personal best time in the 300m dash with a time of 46.07 and Caisie Wynot had a personal best time in the mile with a 5:56.09.

The races were fantastic this weekend! The top two girls in each event will compete in the BSL Meet held at the Reggie Lewis Center this Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
