It seems like another season ago that the Wamps played against Newton North, Weymouth and Walpole. The story was always the same. Braintree would come out against their rivals outplaying them in the first and even sometimes the second quarters. But in the end, the Wamps ended up on the wrong side of the Win/Loss column. Even more reason for concern… Norwood had taken down powerhouse Weymouth.

But not today. Not on Nov. 10, 2012. Not even on the road. Today would be the day that the Wamps would make a stand. Today would be the day the co-captain Connor Leslie would return in full force, smashing into and through the Norwood line, scoring a touchdown. Today would be the day the quick footed sophomore Chris Coraine would show just what can be done when you play with all your heart, scoring two touchdowns.

Today quarter-back Anthony Luisi continued to play with confidence running the offense and scoring of the Wamps touchdowns. Today would be the day sophomore JP Salisbury would score again… like he has done so many times this year. Today would be the day that the offense would convert a two-point play, giving them one more point than Norwood in the end. Today the defense was shored up again with the return of Co-captain Franco DeCienzo in the middle.  His ankle maybe 85 or 90%, he and the rest of the defense made the big plays when they counted.

In this close Braintree went up first 7-0. Norwood scored next 21 points and took the lead 21-7.  Braintree scored before half making score 21-21 at the end of first half. Braintree scored first in the 2nd half, 28-21. Norwoord went up again..35-28. Braintree scored and after a block punt by Norwood was negated by an off sides on Norwood, Braintree scored on a two-point conversion... final 36-35.

This was a great game but a stinging loss for Norwood who had one touchdown called back due to 1 of 3 personal penalties. Next game for the Wamps… Thanksgiving in Braintree.
