The day after Thanksgiving has long been the official kickoff to the Holiday shopping season. Frenzied consumers, some say as many as 134 million, will hit the stores hoping to score big savings on their must have holiday gifts. In a new twist, instead of the usual 4 a.m. opening, retailers such as Best Buy, Target, and WalMart are opening their doors shortly after midnight on the night of Thanksgiving.
In this week’s column, I’ve rounded up some coupons that will offer you additional savings over the weekend, and also pulled togther a few Black Friday ads for you to peruse before they hit the press on Thursday.
TGI Black Friday
If you can’t wait for the flyers in the Thanksgiving Day newspaper, check out TGI Black Friday.com, a website that collects all of the flyers in one convenient location. You can view the ads by store or category and download the entire flyer to your computer.
You can also download the TGI Black Friday App for IPhone or Android. The app is free of charge and is frequently updated to contain the latest information. It's also pretty handy to have the info right on your phone instead of wrestling with the flyers as you wrestle for deals.
Small Business Saturday
As Julie Wesolowski wrote in last week’s Patch, this Saturday is Small Business Saturday, a day reserved to support and encourage small businesses, which we have plenty of here in Braintree. American Express started Small Business Saturday to promote local businesses, whether they are restaurants, clothing boutiques, or hair salons.
As an added bonus to the customer, when you pre-register your American Express card, you’ll receive a $25 statement credit when you spend $25 or more at a participating small business. To pre-register your American Express Card and find a listing of participating businesses, visit: https://sync.americanexpress.com/sbs2011
Sintra Restaurant
At Sintra Restaurant in South Braintree Square, save 10% on all gift certificates during the month of November.
Glow Beauty Boutique
The Glow Beauty Boutique in Braintree Square is just one of the many small businesses in Braintree participating in Small Business Saturday. Although the $25 American Express statement credit is not applicable for gift card purchases, Glow is offering Black Friday specials of its own. Receive a $20 credit when you purchase a $100 gift card and receive a $10 credit with a $50 gift card purchase.
Curry Ace Hardware
A sneak peak of the Curry Ace Hardware flyer released on their Facebook page early this week revealed some great deals on some must-have gift items. For the little ones, Radio Flyer tricycles and wagons are on sale for $49.99 each. Stanley work horses for $9.99 and a DeWalt rechargeable drill for $99.99. The sale goes on all weekend.
