5 Things: Boys Basketball, Wrapping and Gift Tag Workshop

On this day in history: Mississippi became the 20th state (1817), the U.N. adopted its Universal Declaration on Human Rights (1948), The Grateful Dead played their first concert in San Francisco (1965) and in 2002, Jimmy Carter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize.

1. The Community Preservation Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs Johnson Chambers at Town Hall.

2. Thayer Public Library is hosting a "Wrapping Paper & Gift Tag Craft" event for adults and teens in the Logan Auditorium from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening.

"Our Monday Night Craft Series for Adults and Teens continues with a workshop where participants can make beautiful wrapping paper, boxes, and gift tags for any holiday celebration. Join us as we use easy techniques to embellish simple materials such as paper and ribbon."

3. The Braintree High School boys basketball team has an away non-conference game at Plymouth South at 3:15 p.m.

4. Thayer Library is also hosting Book Babies at 9:15 a.m. and Storytime for Ages 2-3 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the auditorium.

5. Don't forget to sign up for the Senior New Year’s Eve Gala on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cahill Auditorium at Town Hall.
